Awardees Announced for the DR-TB Lifeline QuickFire Challenge
- Two of the five awardees – who will receive both $50,000 in grant funding and mentorship from J&J experts – are Indian NGOs renowned for their work in TB Care and Management – Doctors For You and ZMQ Global.
- In leveraging telemedicine and patient-centric mobile solutions, the winners aim to ensure continued access to critical DR-TB care and management to the patients.
September 16, 2020 —Johnson & Johnson’s Global Public Health team, together with Johnson & Johnson Innovation – JLABS, announced today that DOCTORS FOR YOU, ZMQ Global, De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, Keheala and CO TBpeopleUkraine, have been selected as the awardees in the Drug Resistant-TB Lifeline QuickFire Challenge. The Challenge was designed with the aim to ensure continuity of care for those diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for DR-TB in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic.
To advance their research, the awardees will receive a combined total of $250,000 in grant funding and will also have the opportunity to engage with experts at the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.
DOCTORS FOR YOU
An implementable & sustainable solution to continue provide critical DR-TB care services during ongoing COVID-19 using Telemedicine & NIKSHAY DR-TB services delivery boy to strengthen National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) of Govt. of India.
ZMQ Global
PACT – Patient’s Active Compliance and Treatment toolkit is a patient-centric mobile solution which has 3 main features – Adherence reporting using VOT (asynchronous video observed treatment reporting) & self-tracking of treatment; Health System Connect for Consultation & Emergency Care (synchronous video observation therapy mode); and built-in digital tools for Behavior Change Communication to motivate DR TB patients and build their capacities.
De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute
Asynchronized VOT utilizing SureAdhere software, a simple application that can be downloaded to any smartphone that records patients dosing for healthcare workers to view for compliance.
Keheala
Keheala is a digital adherence technology, which uses behavioral economics and basic feature phones to ‘nudge’ and support patients through their treatment process.
CO TBpeopleUkraine
By scaling-up OneImpact mobile application as an efficient tool to enhance TB-patient outreach, monitor barriers and rights violations, TBpeopleUkraine empowers the TB community to respond to challenges encountered during TB-treatment in a timely manner in order to support adherence, reduce the risks of separation from therapy and implement patient-centered approach in treatment and care model.
The QuickFire Challenges are managed by Johnson & Johnson Innovation, JLABS, with the aim to address today’s greatest health care challenges.
